I want carterative.com to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, voice control, screen magnification or any other assistive technology.

Carterative is operated by Carter Stoddard LLC. When this page says I or me, that is who it means.

The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard most widely used to measure whether a website is accessible. I build and review the site against it. I am not claiming the site is perfect: accessibility is ongoing work, and this page is honest about that.

Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a Skip to content link at the top. Pages use real headings, landmarks and labels so a screen reader can move through them in order. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions.

Text meets contrast targets and can be zoomed to 200 percent without breaking the layout. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site turns its animations down. Video on the home page plays silently and does not carry information you cannot get from the text around it. The contact form has labelled fields and announces its errors in text.

The site is tested with automated accessibility audits and by hand, using keyboard navigation and a screen reader, whenever it changes in a meaningful way. Problems found are fixed as part of that work, not saved for later.

Some things are outside my control or still being improved. Links to social platforms, client sites and other third-party tools lead to pages I do not build or maintain. Some portfolio pieces are images or video of finished work, such as ads and packaging, where the text inside the artwork is described in summary and not word for word. If any of that gets in your way, tell me and I will get you the content another way.
